6 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech
    Tour Details

This 6 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech combines the imperial city of Marrakech with the great Sahara Desert and finishes in Fes. You spend two days discovering Marrakech with a local guide, then cross the High Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorges, enjoy a full day in the Merzouga desert with its nomad families, and travel back north through Azrou and Ifrane to Fes.

Over six unforgettable days, this Morocco tour carries you from the buzzing souks of the Red City, across the snow-dusted passes of the High Atlas Mountains, to the towering golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, before winding north through the cedar forests and alpine towns of the Middle Atlas to the medieval medina of Fes. Every kilometre is covered in a private, air-conditioned 4×4 or minivan with your own English-speaking driver, so you travel comfortably and entirely at your own pace, stopping for photos and mint tea whenever you wish.

What sets this 6 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech apart is its balance of culture, landscape and genuine desert immersion: two full days in Marrakech with an official guide, a camel trek to a Berber camp under a sky full of stars, an entire day meeting nomad families and hearing the Gnaoua music of Khamlia, and a scenic finish in imperial Fes rather than a simple return to your starting point.

The tour departs daily and is completely private and tailor-made — the pace, the accommodation level (from authentic riads to luxury desert camps) and even the optional activities can all be adjusted to suit you. It runs comfortably year-round, with spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offering the most pleasant temperatures for both the mountains and the Sahara.

6 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech

    Day 1Marrakech Airport Pick-up

On arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport your driver will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to your riad or hotel in the heart of the city. Depending on your arrival time you are free to relax, enjoy the hotel or take a first stroll around the famous Jemaa el-Fna square and the surrounding souks, where storytellers, musicians and food stalls come alive after dark.

Your driver will explain the plan for the days ahead and answer any questions before leaving you to settle in. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 2Dive into Marrakech City with a Local Guide

After breakfast you meet your official local guide for a full day exploring the Red City. You will visit the iconic 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, the ornate Bahia Palace with its painted cedar ceilings, the Saadian Tombs and the beautifully restored Ben Youssef Madrasa, once the largest Islamic college in North Africa.

You then wander the labyrinth of colourful souks, alive with spices, lanterns, carpets, leather and craftsmen at work, and pass through the historic tanneries and artisan quarters. In the evening you can return to the buzzing Jemaa el-Fna square to try local street food and watch the nightly spectacle. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 3Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

We leave Marrakech after breakfast and drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), stopping for panoramic views over Berber villages, terraced fields and mountain kasbahs. We reach the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou — the earthen fortified village that has starred in films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones — where a local guide can show you across the river to its towers and granary.

After lunch we continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco” and home to the Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Passing Kalaat M’Gouna (the valley of roses) and the palm groves of Skoura, we reach the dramatic Dades Valley, where we spend the night in a hotel with views over the gorge.

Day 4Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast we drive to the Todra Gorges, a breathtaking canyon where sheer limestone walls rise up to 300 metres on either side of a clear mountain stream. We stop to walk through the narrowest section, popular with rock climbers, and enjoy lunch beside the river.

We then continue via Tinghir and Erfoud — famous for its date palms and marine fossils — to reach Merzouga and the edge of the Sahara in the late afternoon. Here a camel caravan carries you over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets, arriving at a traditional Berber desert camp where you enjoy a tagine dinner, drumming around the fire and an unforgettable night beneath the stars.

Day 5Explore Merzouga Desert and the Nomads' Life

Today is a full day to discover the Merzouga desert at a relaxed pace. After watching sunrise over the dunes and enjoying breakfast, you set out by 4×4 to explore the Erg Chebbi region in depth. You visit the village of Khamlia to hear the hypnotic Gnaoua music of its Saharan community over a glass of tea.

You also stop at the seasonal Dayet Srji lake (home to flamingos in spring), the old kohl and lead mines, and the oasis village of Hassi Labied, meeting nomad families living in tents on the desert fringe and learning about their way of life. As the day cools you return to camp for another spectacular sunset, dinner and a second night in the desert.

Day 6Merzouga – Azrou Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

After a final desert sunrise and breakfast we set off north towards Fes. We follow the fertile Ziz Valley, with its endless palm groves and viewpoints, and climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in the cedar forests around Azrou to look for the wild Barbary macaques that live among the trees, then pass through Ifrane, an alpine-style town of red-roofed chalets nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco”.

Continuing through green plateaus and Berber market towns, we arrive in the imperial city of Fes in the evening, where your driver drops you at your hotel or riad. Overnight in Fes, ready to explore its ancient medina the next day.
