This 10 Days Morocco Tour from Tangier to Marrakech crosses the country from north to south. From Tangier you visit the blue town of Chefchaouen and the imperial city of Fes with a local guide, cross the Middle Atlas to the Sahara at Merzouga for a full desert day, follow the road of kasbahs through the Todra and Dades valleys and Ait Ben Haddou, and finish with a guided day in Marrakech.
On arrival at Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport your driver welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, relax or take a first walk along the Tangier corniche and medina. Overnight in Tangier.
After breakfast we leave Tangier and drive through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous “blue pearl”. On arrival you are free to wander its blue-washed lanes, relax in the main square with a mint tea and enjoy the mountain air. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
We leave Chefchaouen and drive south to Fes, stopping on the way at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the holy town of Moulay Idriss. We arrive in Fes in the afternoon. Overnight in Fes.
A full day exploring Fes with your local guide. Discover the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes el-Bali with the Al-Qarawiyyin university, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the famous Chouara tanneries and the maze of souks and craft workshops, and enjoy a panoramic view over the city from the Marinid tombs. We leave Fes and drive into the Middle Atlas, passing Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco”, and the cedar forests of Azrou where we look for the wild Barbary macaques. We descend along the beautiful Ziz Valley with its palm groves, stop at Erfoud, and reach Merzouga in the late afternoon.
A camel caravan takes us over the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset to our desert camp for dinner, music around the fire and a night under the stars.
A full day to discover the Merzouga desert. After sunrise and breakfast we visit Khamlia to hear its Gnaoua music, explore the dunes of Erg Chebbi by 4×4, and meet nomad families to learn about their way of life. We also see Dayet Srji lake and Hassi Labied village, before returning to camp for another sunset, dinner and night in the desert.
After breakfast we leave Merzouga towards the Todra Gorges, stopping first at Rissani, birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, to explore its market.
