This 12 Days Morocco Tour from Casablanca is a grand loop from Casablanca through the imperial cities and the Sahara. You explore Marrakech, cross the High Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou and Merzouga, travel to Fes via the Middle Atlas, and continue through Meknes and Volubilis, Chefchaouen, Tangier, Asilah and Rabat back to Casablanca.
On arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport your driver welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can rest or head to the Corniche and the great Hassan II Mosque set over the ocean. Overnight in Casablanca.
After breakfast we drive south to Marrakech, arriving in the red city by midday or early afternoon. The rest of the day is free to start exploring the souks and the lively Jemaa el-Fna square with its food stalls and performers. Overnight in Marrakech.
After breakfast you meet your local guide for a full day exploring Marrakech. You visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the ornate Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the Ben Youssef Madrasa, then wander the colourful souks. In the evening enjoy the buzzing Jemaa el-Fna square. Overnight in Marrakech.
We leave Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), stopping for panoramic views over Berber villages and kasbahs. We visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou — backdrop of films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia — then continue to Ouarzazate.
Passing Kalaat M’Gouna, the valley of roses, and Skoura, we reach the Dades Valley, where we spend the night.
After breakfast we drive to the Todra Gorges, a canyon with 300-metre limestone walls where we stop to walk and have lunch. We then continue via Tinghir and Erfoud — known for its date palms and fossils — to reach Merzouga in the late afternoon.
A camel caravan takes us over the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset to our desert camp for dinner, music around the fire and a night under the stars.
After a final desert sunrise and breakfast we head north towards Fes. We cross the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in the cedar forests of Azrou to look for the Barbary macaques, and pass through Ifrane. We arrive in Fes in the evening. Overnight in Fes.
A full day exploring Fes with your local guide. Discover the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes el-Bali with the Al-Qarawiyyin university, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the famous Chouara tanneries and the maze of souks and craft workshops. Overnight in Fes.
We travel north, stopping at Meknes, one of the imperial cities, to see its monumental gates and walls, then visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site with well-preserved mosaics. In the afternoon we continue through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the “blue pearl”, where we spend the night.
A full day at leisure in Chefchaouen. Explore the blue-painted medina, climb to the Spanish Mosque for a panoramic sunset view, visit the kasbah and its gardens, or relax in a café. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
We drive from Chefchaouen to Tangier, the gateway between Africa and Europe. On arrival a panoramic tour includes the Kasbah, the medina and Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, and the nearby Caves of Hercules. Overnight in Tangier.
Leaving Tangier we drive down the Atlantic coast to the walled town of Asilah, known for its whitewashed ramparts and murals. We continue to Rabat, the capital, to visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Kasbah of the Udayas, before reaching Casablanca in the evening. Overnight in Casablanca.
